BSpa Man Arrested for Attempted Robbery at Stewart’s

BALLSTON-Kenneth D. Geel, age 48, of 6C Cramer Woods Dr., Ballston Spa has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery after attempting to hold up the Stewart’s Shop located at 801 Rt. 67 in the Town of Ballston.

Geel is alleged to have brandished what appeared to be a pistol to store personnel. The suspect was tracked by local law officials using a K-9 unit, who came upon a male subject, fitting the description of the perpetrator, loading a bicycle into a vehicle on Underpass Road.

Police found a BB gun resembling a Beretta handgun with  Geel and took him into custody.  He was arraigned in Malta Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond.

Updated Dec. 13, 2013:  Geel has pled guilty and will be sentenced on Feb. 16, 2014.

Updated Feb. 26, 2014:  Geel was sentenced today to four months in Saratoga County Jail and five years probation.
