SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga County Kids Care Club Halloween Costume Drive, held Sept. 8-Oct. 17, collected 300 gently-used and new Halloween costumes for children and teens served by the Franklin Community Center in Saratoga Springs. According to a press release received, this was double the number of costumes collected last year.
The Saratoga County Kids Care Club members and facilitators dropped off the collected costumes on Oct. 19 which were distributed on Oct. 21 to families.
“Thank you to all those who donated costumes,” said Club President Aydin Sajjad. “This year, with the community’s help and participating organizations that served as drop-off sites, as well as the 4H Discovery Club, PassItOnKids and KT consignment organizers, we were able to double the number of costumes collected last year. This means that the Franklin Community Center will be able to hand out more vouchers to struggling families who can use the costumes.”
Sajjad is grateful for the local organizations and businesses who participated in the drive as drop-locations and for spreading the word through posted flyers. They include: Torres XTF Health & Fitness, Ballston Lake; Saratoga Regional YMCA, Saratoga Springs; Malta Community Center, Malta; Rhythm Expressions Dance Studio, Ballston Spa and A Healthy Art Sanctuary, Ballston Spa.
“It is our hope to raise an awareness of needs in our communities and find positive solutions. If people were not able to donate costumes this year perhaps they may be able to do so next year,” said Sajjad.
