BALLSTON SPA – The Saratoga County Fair is accepting applications for the 2017 NYSAAF/NYSSA Scholarship program.
Funds will be awarded statewide by the New York State Association of Agricultural Fairs and the New York State Showpeople’s Association. Up to ten scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded to students who are involved with their local county fair.
To be eligible, candidates from Saratoga County must be active in the Saratoga County Fair and be a current New York State high school senior, or enrolled in college. Applications need to be submitted through the Saratoga County Fair Office no later that Friday, April 8.
Since its inception this program has been responsible for more than $150,000 in college scholarships being awarded to students involved with their local county fair. The 2016 winners were Rebekah Allen for the Genesee County Fair, Emily Ooms for the Columbia County Fair, Ashley A. Gifford for the Altamont Fair, Mikayla MacNeil for the Cortland Fair, Robin Smithling for the Ontario County Fair, Andre Bontrager for the Wyoming County Fair and Brianna Getty for the Washington County Fair.
More comprehensive eligibility guidelines and application forms are available online at www.nyfairs.org, under the “scholarship” tab. Applications also may be picked up at the Saratoga County Fair office, 162 Prospect Street, Ballston Spa, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
