BALLSTON SPA – The Ballston Spa Swordfish Swim Club will send 10 swimmers to the Adirondack Gold Championships.
The Championships are being held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from March 17 to March 19. The swimmers had to qualify with qualifying times in order to compete at the championships and will be racing against the top swimmers in the region.
The Swordfish are thrilled to have six 9 to 10 year old swimmers representing Ballston Spa at Golds. Julia Haight and Ava Galvin will both be swimming in the 200 Free and 200 Medley relays.
Emily Dierna qualified in backstroke and butterfly and will be swimming in three individual events and two relays.
Julia McKinley qualified in freestyle, backstroke and the individual medley and will be swimming in six individual events and two relays.
Anthony O’Leary qualified in breaststroke and will be swimming in two individual events and Gabe Wetting qualified in all four strokes and will be swimming in seven individual events.
Three swimmers will compete in the 11 to 12 age group. Matthew Bablin qualified in three individual events and will be swimming freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. McKenna Phillips qualified in three individual events and will be swimming backstroke and freestyle. Nicholas Srokowski qualified in two individual events and will be swimming breaststroke.
Sam Paley is our oldest qualifier and will be competing in two individual events in the open age group. She will be swimming both the 50 and 100 freestyle.
As a team, the Swordfish had a very successful year with many swimmers competing in multiple meets and getting best times.
