ROUND LAKE – Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, D-Round Lake, is seeking nominees for her 2017 Women of Distinction Awards.
The awards to honor local women for the invaluable work they do to strengthen the Saratoga and Washington County communities. Woerner is also accepting submissions from students for her Women of Distinction Essay Contest. Nominations and essays are due by Friday, March 31.
“Women’s History Month is a time to recognize the remarkable women who have shattered glass ceilings and made exceptional contributions to the world,” Woerner said in a statement. “It’s important that we honor the women making strides in our community and inspiring young people as we continue to fight for equality and opportunity for all.”
Residents are invited to nominate a woman they know who is helping make a difference in our community in fields including business, community service, education, health care, military service, and humanitarian work. Students in grades 6-12 are encouraged to submit a 500-word essay about a woman who is an inspiration and has impacted society. Submissions can be made via mail, email or by visiting Assemblywoman Woerner’s website at nyassembly.gov/Woerner.
“I’m looking forward to celebrating the women from our area, both past and present, who have helped make the future brighter for us all,” Woerner said.
Essay contest winners and Women of Distinction honorees will be announced at the Women of Distinction Awards Ceremony onSaturday, April 29, at 11 a.m. at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.
