Every Tuesday night, approximately 200 people from all over pack into the basement of Talk of the Town Auction in the hopes of  selling or purchasing consigned goods. John and Beverly Stanislowsky, owners of the auction house, have incorporated antiques, collectables, coins, jewelry and more to draw large crowds for over 16 years.

John and Beverly have been in the auction and consignment business since 1980. They owned two businesses on Front Street in Ballston Spa, including a consignment shop that sourced its merchandise from auctions John attended. In addition, John served as the president of the Ballston Spa Business Association for 11 years. The couple closed their consignment shop in 1999, when they moved to their current location in Carousel Village Plaza. They run their auction based on what they have liked and disliked from the many other auctions they have attended.

Once a month is Talk of the Town’s “Sportsman Auction.” This special event features hunting and fishing gear to a crowd of approximately 400 people, from in and out of state. Talk of the Town is a licensed federal firearms dealer, and provides background checks before the customer even leaves the premise. The business is accommodating to those who do not know the area, and food is available for purchase within the location.

Every Tuesday from 9 a.m. until when the auction starts, customers can preview that night’s goods prior to the 6:30 p.m. start. Listings and photos can be found online every Friday before each auction using the auctioneer ID 6042 . In addition, Talk of the Town ships merchandise to any customer that cannot attend. Anyone can attend the free auctions, and you do n0t have to be a dealer or have a resale certificate.

Hours: Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
