BALLSTON SPA – A local summer lunch program for needy children is seeking volunteers as organizers gear up for this year’s campaign.
The Simpson United Methodist Church of 1089 Rock City Rd., Rock City Falls is holding a Bake Sale on Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa’s Summer Lunch Program.

The members of The First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa and Ballston Spa United Methodist Church are actively preparing for their 2013 Summer Lunch Program. The program is designed to provide free lunches to families in need.
The Summer Lunch Program has served the local residents of the Village of Ballston Spa for the past two years. BALLSTON SPA-The First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa, located at 202 Milton Ave., Ballston Spa is planning for their annual free or reduced price lunches for families in need this summer.
The program was started just a few short years ago and serves about 40-75 lunches per day to local children who might otherwise go hungry. Each child attending is given a bagged lunch that are nutritious and made fresh daily.

This summer, during the months of July and August the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa will sponsor a Summer Lunch Program for children in Ballston Spa who receive free or reduced-price lunches during the school year. Free nutritious lunches will be made fresh daily and distributed Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at three locations: the church at 202 Milton Ave., the Ballston Area Community Center at 20 Malta Ave., and Kelley Park at 39 Ralph St., all in Ballston Spa.
Permission forms must be signed by parents prior to children entering the program. The forms are available at the church, BACC or on the church website at bspabaptist.org.
Volunteers are needed to assemble and distribute the lunches, and funds are currently being collected from various businesses, service organizations and individuals to finance the program.
