The Ballston Spa Central School District and the Village of Ballston Spa are combining efforts to celebrate school and community pride during the district’s annual Homecoming Week. Activities will be held throughout the schools, the businesses and the communities the week of Tuesday, Oct. 11 to Saturday, Oct. 15.
The schools will be celebrating different themes each day, including the high school’s purple and gold day on Tuesday, a class color shirt day competition on Wednesday, sports team shirts on Thursday, and class T-shirts on Friday. Local businesses will help celebrate school spirit by donating their storefront windows to be decorated by a team or club from the High School as well, according to information from the school district.
The district will be recognizing six distinguished alumni at the second Annual Alumni Recognition Event during the homecoming week activities. The event will start at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12 in the current high school auditorium with a dessert reception immediately following at 7 p.m. in the library.
Organizations from throughout the school district, and members of the several school groups, will be participating in a parade through town as part of the Community Spirit Week. The parade will be held on Friday, Oct. 14 before the football game. It will start at the former South Street School at 5:45 p.m. and proceed through the Village of Ballston Spa to the football field. The parade is being organized as a collaboration of the Ballston Spa High School Student Council, the Village of Ballston Spa, and the Ballston Spa Business and Professional Association. The annual Homecoming Football Game will be held against Christian Brothers Academy at 7 p.m.
Current high school students will also attend their Homecoming Dance on Saturday evening, Oct. 15. Contact Ballston Spa High School for information at 518-884-7150 or check the Web site at www.bscsd.org.
