MALTA — Karen Heggen has received the endorsement of the Malta Republican Committee in her bid for Saratoga County District Attorney. Heggen noted her strong record and commitment to keep Saratoga County safe, a tradition she has built with Jim Murphy over the past 17 years, and her deep community roots as to why she is the best candidate for the job.
“Under Jim Murphy’s watch, I am the only candidate to ever run the Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office from the top down,” said Heggen. “I was recruited by Jim Murphy 17 years ago to be his Chief Trial ADA and later his First Assistant District Attorney. My proven leadership in the courtroom and in the office is what sets me apart from the other candidates. I’m a tried and true prosecutor, and a sure thing to continue the tradition of keeping Saratoga County safe for all residents. I am eager to seek the support from other communities in Saratoga County.”
Educated by Ballston Spa’s public schools, Heggen graduated from Middlebury College in Vermont and earned her Juris Doctor at Vermont Law School. In total, she has twenty-one years of experience with the District Attorney’s Office. Heggen has also served as the Malta Planning Board Attorney and run her own legal practice.
Karen has prosecuted cases in every town and city court in Saratoga County.
“Karen Heggen is the clear choice for Saratoga County District Attorney, and the Malta Republican Committee is proud to stand behind such a fine choice,” said Malta Republican Committee Chairman Ted Willette. “Karen brings a wealth of legal experience and community involvement to the table, which sets her apart from every other candidate. Saratoga County residents can rest assured that Karen Heggen is the only candidate who will continue the strong tradition Jim Murphy has established. She’s a sure thing – case closed.”
