To earn the rank, a scout has to master numerous scout skills, as well as demonstrate citizenship and leadership. A scout also has to earn 21 merit badges, perform many hours of community service and must have held leadership positions in the troop.

The final task to earn the rank of Eagle Scout involves planning, organizing and supervising a major service project that will benefit a chosen organization. The project demonstrates the scout’s leadership and organization skills and many times involves more than 100 hours of work.
Damiano’s Eagle Scout project was a memory garden created for The Gateway House of Peace, a hospice in Milton. The garden was constructed over a period of three days and will serve as a place of solace for the families of loved ones staying there.
AJ’s scouting career started with Cub Scout Pack 1 of Ballston Spa in 2008. He joined as a Webelos 2 cub scout before crossing over to Boy Scout Troop 1.

Damiano helped design the Twin Rivers Council patch for the 2010 National Jamboree, which he also attended. He also attended the Canada-America Brotherhood Camporee multiple times. He achieved Brotherhood status in the Order of the Arrow, a scouting honor society. At summer camp he earned the mile swim award.
AJ attended Ballston Spa High School and started the BSHS Debate Club, serving as its president for two years. He was a member of the National Honor Society and served as the Videographer for the First Robotics Team 3044.
Damiano has volunteered his time at the Ballston Area Community Center and has worked as a host at the former Cliffs Country Inn on Saratoga Lake. In his spare time, AJ plays piano and creates videos for YouTube.
He is planning on attending Syracuse University to major in Business with a focus on Entrepreneurship and Finance.
