BALLSTON SPA – The National PTA Reflections Program is designed to enhance arts education for students in preschool through grade 12, encouraging them to create works of art in the areas of dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and the visual arts.
The theme for 2016-2017 is “What’s Your Story?” and nearly 20,000 students throughout the state participate annually. The student artwork is judged at the school, region, state and national levels as they advance.
Ballston Spa students recognized for their submissions at the regional level in this year’s program include: Emma Jones and Fiona Hughes from Wood Road Elementary School; Emma Mulrain from Milton Terrace Elementary School; Hailie Evens and Kentaro (Ken) Tan from Ballston Spa Middle School; and Shoichiro (Shawn) Tan, Anya Sager, Jenna Gold-Wienk and John (Brit) Douglas from Ballston Spa Senior High School.
This year, three entries from Ballston Spa Central School District have been selected by the Northeast region to advance to the state level in their respective categories:
- Visual Art – Hailie Evens
- Photography – Shoichiro (Shawn) Tan
- Dance Choreography – Anya Sager
The students were recognized for their achievements at the Ballston Spa PTA Council’s annual Founders’ Day Celebration in this month. Student artwork and projects will be judged at the state PTA level and returned at the Legislative Education Conference in March.
