BALLSTON SPA – A local summer lunch program for needy children is seeking volunteers as organizers gear up for this year’s campaign.
The members of the First Baptist Church of Ballston Spa and Ballston Spa United Methodist Church are preparing for the 2017 Summer Lunch Program. Any assistance is welcome as organizers are actively looking for volunteers.
This program is designed to provide free lunches to children of families in need. This program has served the Village of Ballston Spa for the past six years. It now enters its seventh year thanks in part to grants from Stewart’s Shops, Adirondack Trust Co., Saratoga Hospital, and donations from other local businesses and organizations.
Approximately 140 lunches are served Monday thru Friday in July and August. Nutritious and fresh bagged meals are prepared by church members and local volunteers and given to each child in attendance that might otherwise go hungry.
Volunteers can sign up through The First Baptist Church, (518) 885-8361 or on the church website, bspabaptist.org. Permission forms are required for children to participate in the program. They are also available at the church or on the church website. Contact coordinators Karen Jones or Pat Rogers at (518) 885-8361 for more information.
