SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Adirondack Trust Co.Community Fund has begun to accept grant applications from eligible nonprofit charities headquartered in the Saratoga, Warren and Washington counties.
The grant window is open from April 1, 2017 to Sept. 25, 2017, according to Mary Gavin, chair of the Community Fund’s independent advisory committee. Grant information and application forms may be obtained from the Adirondack Trust Co. Community Fund website.
The Adirondack Trust Co. Community Fund was established in 2009 to build an endowment that acts as a perpetual source of funding for the broad array of nonprofit organizations that improve the quality of life in the community and to assist them in addressing issues of common concern. The fund also seeks to foster a community spirit of giving by providing donors with unique and flexible ways to manage charitable donations.
In 2016, the Community Fund awarded $42,270.00 in Lend-a- Hand grants to 23 local, nonprofit organizations, supporting programs in such diverse areas as veteran’s outreach, mental health services, wildlife education, homelessness prevention, youth services and the arts.
Grant recipients will be announced by the independent advisory committee in December.
Since the inception of the Autumn of Giving Campaign in October 2013, the campaign has raised more than $172,000 from the community. With the bank match, the overall total raised exceeds $345,000. The Adirondack Trust Co. serves as the Trustee and Administrator of The Adirondack Trust Co. Community Fund with the guidance of a local independent advisory committee.
