BALLSTON SPA – The Ballston Spa Central School District recently received Utica National Insurance Group’s School Safety Excellence Award for 2017.
The honor recognizes school district safety efforts that focus on working to keep students, staff and visitors safe. School district officials were presented with a certificate to commemorate the district’s safety efforts and a $500 award for use in furthering those efforts from Utica National representatives at a recent awards presentation in Saratoga Springs.
The school district received the Titanium with Honors level award by meeting specific criteria in 17 different school safety categories. The focus is on enhancing overall safety, including bullying prevention programs, playground safety, transportation protocols, safety policies and procedures, all hazards emergency planning, fire safety and other areas with specific, quantifiable data-gathering surveys.
“Safety and health concerns continue to be a priority in our school districts,” said Brian Saville, resident senior vice president in Utica National’s educational institutions unit, in a statement. “Districts that go ‘above and beyond’ to provide a safe, healthy and focused culture for learning are to be applauded, and we’re pleased to count Ballston Spa Central School District among them.”
