The National PTA® has designated both the Ballston Spa Middle School and the Gordon Creek Elementary School as National PTA Schools of Excellence for building effective family-school partnerships. This summer, applications were reviewed from PTAs and schools across the country.
A press release from the Ballston Spa Central School District said “the Middle School and Gordon Creek applications stood out as nationwide leaders in developing strong family-school partnerships. Ballston Spa schools received two of the six awards that were given in New York State”.
“This national recognition exemplifies our district’s Core Value of Involvement,” indicated Joseph P. Dragone, Ph.D., Superintendent of the Ballston Spa CSD. Further, “We are proud to have the work of our school communities recognized by the National PTA.”
“Research shows that when families and schools work together, student achievement increases, schools improve and communities grow stronger. Being recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence demonstrates the school’s leadership and commitment to partnering to support student success and continuous school improvement”, the press release continued.
The National PTA launched its School of Excellence program to help strengthen family-school partnerships across the country and make measurable progress in the areas of education, health and safety, and arts and cultural exploration. As a National PTA School of Excellence, families feel welcomed and empowered to support student success, and PTA is a key partner for continuous school improvement.
“We are thrilled to have achieved the National PTA School of Excellence award,” said Gordon Creek Principal Celeste Keene. “This truly recognizes the
emphasis we place on creating and sustaining close home-school connections.”
