Construction of a new 9/11 memorial in Ballston Spa is nearing completion and a dedication ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. next to Village Hall on Front Street.
The 9/11 Memorial will include steel pieces of the PATH rail than ran underneath the World Trade Center. They were the last two remaining artifacts of the PATH rail and were transported to Ballston Spa from a hangar on Long Island last year. Design, planning, fundraising and construction has since taken place with finishing touches being completed over the next week.
A true community effort, the 9/11 Memorial has come to fruition due to many local residents, businesses and organizations. Much of the materials and labor were donated or discounted. The Rotary Club of Ballston Spa, who has taken lead on the project in close partnership with the Village of Ballston Spa and the Rossi Family, invites the public to join them for the dedication ceremony and observance at the 9/11 Memorial. Hamburgers and hot dogs will also be served.
