The Ballston Spa Public Library is fundraising for a new front facing community sign in front of their building on Rt.50.
In a press release, board members Paul Laskey and Chris McDonough said they “hoping the sign will bring attention to the Library and the many programs the library offers. The new sign will promote library activities as well as community events.”
The sign cost is included, with other capital improvements for the facility, in a total fundraising goal of $17,415. John and Judy Frolish of Saratoga Sign Pros have been commissioned to complete the work and have made a personal $250 donation toward the sign. John Frolish is currently seeking an elected seat on the board in the Town of Milton.
The Village of Ballston Spa handles repair and maintenance to the building. Flowers and exterior improvements are mostly the handled by volunteer groups such as the Ballston Spa Home and Garden Club, Friends of the Ballston Spa Public Library and The Ballston Spa Garden Club. Donations for maintenance and improvements are often received from the Ballston Spa Rotary Club, the Ballston Spa Lions Club, the Ballston Spa Elks, the Boy Scouts of America and the American Legion of Ballston Spa.
The library is accepting donations at the Village office; checks should be made payable to the Village of Ballston Spa. Donors should place their contribution in a sealed envelope labled ‘Attn: library sign’.
Laskey and McDonough said they have already raised roughly 10% of the money needed to pay for the sign, expected to be installed in mid-November.
