Letter to the Editor: Thank You from Mack Brin Farms

We here at Mack Brin Farms, have received an amazing amount of support from the local community and nationally, and would like to sincerely thank everyone who has contributed. From close friends, to strangers, we are humbled by the generosity and support you have shown to us in our time of need.

We are now faced with the challenge of cleanup and rebuilding, and with winter around the corner, it’s crucial we work towards getting our animals in permanent and stable homes. They are currently only in temporary housing that will not be ideal for the upcoming conditions.

We want the community, especially the children who’ve visited the farm, to know that our remaining animals are recovering well. That includes all of our San Clemente Islander goats, with the exception of Chile who we lost in the fire. With the loss of all but five of our rabbits, we’re hoping to be able to replenish the dozens that we lost by Spring.

If you’re able to give as we clean up and move forward, Adirondack Trust has a special account for donations under the name Donation Barn Fire that you can donate to from any location in the Capital Region. A benefit dinner is also being held for our cause at the Saratoga Winery (462 route 29 West, Saratoga Springs NY, 12866) on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 5-8 p.m., and tickets are $20 dollars.

There are also 2 GoFundMe accounts set up for our farm.

If you would like to donate supplies, we are still very much in the need of volunteers, chicken coops, metal garbage cans with tops for food storage, gift certificates, kitty supplies, break away collars for goats, and fence posts/building supplies.
