Teams from 13 different countries, including the United States, competed at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals. International teams from Singapore, Poland, Switzerland, Mexico, South Korea, Hong Kong and Qatar all competed in the tournament.

“Our team was fortunate to be paired up with a buddy team from Hong Kong and lifelong friendship was formed,” said Danison of the experience.

Team members include Gabriel Baskin, George Danison, Jake Faubel, Tim McQuade, Emilee Meadors, Grace O’Connor and Nate Zink, with coaches Justina Danison and Nancy Zink.

After qualifying for the world finals last month, the team launched a fundraising campaign to obtain the funds needed to compete. The effort was a success with more than 85 individuals and various businesses around the Ballston Spa area contributing money for the team’s travel expenses.

“We are so grateful for the generosity and backing of our community,” said Danison. “Not only were all the expenses for the team members and two coached covered, we also received extra funds to do some fun activities after the competition.”
