BALLSTON – The Town has signed a new water contract to continue purchasing potable water from the town of Glenville through 2025, Supervisor Tim Szczepaniak has announced.
The Town has purchased water from Glenville since 1996.
Under the agreement, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2019, the Town will pay $3.50 per 1,000 gallons. The agreement stipulates that the Town of Ballston will buy a minimum of 9.125 million gallons each year from the Town of Glenville Water District – roughly 250,000 gallons per day. The Town will save about $70,000 annually from previous years.
“We are very happy to have secured a clean source of water for the next seven years. Supervisor Koetzle and his team are great neighbors; they deserve credit for their good-faith negotiations,” Supervisor Szczepaniak said. “While the cost savings to taxpayers is very important, the assurance of having a clean and reliable water source through 2025 is even more important.”
The Town of Ballston has agreed to pay the Glenville Water District a $1,200 fee for each new water connection in Water Districts 5 and 6.
“This agreement is a testament to the longstanding and strong partnership between the towns of Ballston and Glenville. The Glenville Town Board is pleased that we have extended our relationship under the terms reached and that Glenville has secured additional revenue through this extension,” said Supervisor Christopher A. Koetzle of Glenville. “I appreciate the leadership of Supervisor Szczepaniak and look forward to our continued work together on behalf of our respective communities.”
Both parties reached the agreement in August and signed the contract in September.
