The Town of Malta is right off the Adirondack Northway in Saratoga County  and was once the home to a malt brewery, hence the name “Malta”.  The Town’s earliest settlement was Maltaville (c. 1764) and it’s most notable historical figure:  Elmer Ellsworth, born in Malta in 1837, and said to be the first casualty of the American Civil War.  South of Saratoga Springs and home to GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a semiconductor foundry and wafer fabrication plant.
